Cadiz, Spain (PortSEurope) December 20, 2019 – With the beginning of the works process, the rail access to the La Cabezuela-Puerto Real dock is now in its final phase after ADIF, Puertos del Estado and the Port Authority of the Bay of Cádiz have worked to maximise administrative procedures.

It is estimated, once approved by the Council of Ministers, that the start of the process for contracting the works will begin in January. With this, admitting a bidding period of six months, it is possible to foresee the signing of the contract in July, and expecting to start the execution works for the month of August 2020.

With an execution period of 24 months, the project involves the construction of a 4.4 km branch and the budget amounts to €24.8 million (with VAT).

This project, of vital importance for the competitiveness of the Port of Cádiz, will be financed by Puertos del Estado, under the Port Terrestrial Accessibility Financial Fund, for which there is a total item of 26.5 million euros.
