Genoa, Italy (PortSEurope) June 26, 2019 – PSA, the Singapore-based, international port terminal and logistics company, is to start a non-stop intermodal train service between its port terminal in PSA Genova Pra’ and its inland facility in Basel, Switzerland.

Containers can be transported non-stop to Switzerland for onward movement to northern and central European markets, avoiding the need for container vessels to travel to northern Europe ports.

The service is open to all operators in the sector: freight forwarders, shipping lines and BCO (A beneficial cargo owner (BCO) is an importer that takes control of a shipment at the destination using their own logistics assets instead of utilizing a third-party source like a freight forwarder or NVOCC.).

The service includes three weekly departures in both directions.

Formerly known as Voltri Terminal Europa, PSA Genova Prà is the main container terminal of the North Tyrrhenian region and of the port of Genoa. About 60% of the container volumes in the port are handled by PSA Genova Prà. Currently PSA Genova Prà can simultaneously serve two mega container vessels (up to 18,000 TEU each).
