Madrid, Spain (PortSEurope) September 19, 2019 – The president of Puertos del Estado, Salvador de la Encina, has met with the recently appointed president of Autoridad Portuaria de Melilla (APM – Port Authority of Valencia), Víctor Gamero, to review port activities and challenges. The APM president expressed concern about problems arising from the border closure, as well as the main projects in which the port
is currently involved and financing needs. Salvador de la Encina reinforced the commitment of Puertos del Estado to the port of Melilla, which is the economic engine of the Melilla economy, through which more than one million tons of merchandise and over 800,000 passengers a year are channeled annually. “Melilla is an indispensable bridge between Europe and the African continent, and our goal is to continue working together to find solutions to the challenges that arise”, he added. Melilla is a Spanish autonomous city located on the north coast of Africa, sharing a border with Morocco. Copyright (C) PortSEurope. All Rights Reserved. 2019.
