Government of Serbia – December 2, 2019
Deputy Prime Minister of the Republic of Serbia and Minister of Construction, Transport and Infrastructure Zorana Mihajlovic spoke today with the new Greek Ambassador to Serbia, George Diakofotakis, on cooperation in the field of transport and infrastructure integration of the region.
Mihajlovic said that infrastructure integration is a prerequisite for faster economic development of Serbia and the entire region and that it is important for the two countries to cooperate even more closely in this area, especially when it comes to railways.
According to Mihajlovic, since Serbia has completed the complete Road Corridor 10, modernization of the Rail Corridor 10 is a priority in the coming period.
This is important because of regional connectivity, lower transport costs and the creation of a better connection between central Europe and the Piraeus port through Serbia, the Deputy Prime Minister emphasized.
Diakofotakis stressed that modernizing the rail link between the two countries is one of the priorities in bilateral cooperation, given the strong need to improve connectivity and shorten travel time.
The meeting discussed the forthcoming joint session of the governments of the two countries, as well as the co-operation between Serbia and Greece and other areas of transport, primarily in road transport.
