Taranto, Italy (PortSEurope) September 13, 2019 – The regional court (TAR) has approved the award to RCM Costruzioni Srl of the contract for the enlargement of the eastern quay of the port of Taranto. The court rejected an appeal by Doronzo Infrastrutture di Barletta and Cantieri Costruzioni Cemento.
They had contested the work of the commission claiming the right to be readmitted in the tender and to win the works. A first appeal had already been rejected on the merits by the TAR last May.
As a result of the judge’s pronouncements, the contract was signed, which sets the deadline for completing the works as of July 2020. These are jobs of strategic importance for the re-launch of the Taranto port hub, for an amount of 20 million euros, which provide for the enlargement and structural adjustment of the eastern quay of the San Cataldo pier and of the Porto 1 at the end to increase activities related to both passenger and commercial traffic.
