Ferrol, Spain (PortSEurope) January 9, 2018 – Reganosa, the Spanish energy company, has received its first shipment of liquified natural gas (LNG) from Yamal in Russia at its Ferrol port terminal in Galicia in northwest Spain.
The gas was transported in an LNG ice-class carrier to Ferrol, which is Spain’s closest LNG terminal to Yamal in Siberia, Russia.
Reganosa is a Spanish energy company which works on the development, operation and maintenance of natural gas infrastructures, in accordance with the principles of safety, efficiency and flexibility. It is certified as a transmission system operator (TSO) and manages two key access points to the natural gas system in Europe, ensuring supply diversification and security, the integration of the single market and proper operation of transport networks.
The Reganosa Mugardos LNG terminal, at the Ferrol port, began to operate in November 2007. It provides the system with a natural gas capacity of 3.6 bcm (billion cubic meters) per year of natural gas (14% of the Spanish natural gas demand for 2014).
