Repsol carries out largest supply of LNG to a ship for use as fuel with Cartagena port

Cartagena, Spain (PortSEurope) December 5, 2018 – Working with Autoridad Portuaria de Cartagena (APC – Port Authority of Cartagena) and Enagás SA, Repsol SA has carried out the largest supply of liquefied natural gas (LNG) to a ship for use as fuel.

Eleven tankers supplied LNG to the Canadian ship Paul A. Desganés. Repsol has coordinated and managed this bunkering operation in collaboration with Enagás, ESK and the Cartagena port authority.

LNG is an ecological fuel since it does not generate emissions of sulfur oxides (SOx) or particles (PM). It also substantially reduces the emissions of CO2 and nitrogen oxide (NOx). These characteristics allow it to comply with the regulations of the IMO 2020 and the emission reduction objectives, aligned with Repsol’s commitments.

Repsol is an integrated global energy company based in Madrid, Spain.

Enagás, S.A. is a Spanish energy company and European TSO, which owns and operates the nation’s gas grid.

ESK focuses on the transport of dangerous goods, mainly all kinds of gases.
