Rijeka, Croatia (PortSEurope) November 30, 2018 – Rijeka port has again delayed the deadline for the completion of the construction of a new container terminal on the Zagreb coast, this time until the end of May 2019.
The initial deadline for completing the work was July 2017, but it was delayed by the end of 2018, and now it is certain that this deadline will not be respected.
The end of the works was confirmed by the director of the Rijeka port authority Denis Vukorepa, saying that such large and demanding projects, such as the construction of 400 metres of the new Zagreb coast, are not unusual and that the new delay will not affect the concession process for the new Rijeka Container Terminal.
There are still 7% of the total works on the Zagreb coast until completion. Due to the difficulties experienced by the contractor, but also due to adverse weather conditions during the construction year, there was a delay in relation to the deadline for completion of the works, Vukorepa said.
