Risposte Turismo forecasts increased cruise traffic for 2019

Rome, Italy (PortSEurope) October 10, 2019 – The number of cruise passengers in Italian ports could reach 12.09 million, a figure that would show 8.8% growth over the previous year, according to Risposte Turismo, which will present an updated report on cruise traffic data at the annual Italian Cruise Day forum in Cagliari on 18 October. According to the consultancy firm, Italian ports could close 2019
with 4,834 cruise ship traffic (+3.2% on 2018). The report highlights how Italy can confirm itself as the first Mediterranean nation in terms of the number of cruise passengers, representing about 40% of the total traffic in the area. This year there will be nine Italian cruise ports in the top 20 of the Mediterranean. The port of Livorno is in 11th place with 838,000 passengers handled and 384 ship touched, increasing on 2018 for both handled passengers (+6.7%) and number of berths (+8.5%).
