Romanian ports see increased traffic in first nine months of 2019

Constanta, Romania (PortSEurope) October 21, 2019 – In the first nine months of 2019, Romanian seaports registered 49,689,282 tonnes of cargo, up by 8.42%, compared to 45,830,329 tonnes in the similar period of 2018. Maritime traffic reached 38,113,925 tonnes, an increase of 4.73%, and river transport was 11,575,357 tonnes, up 22.63%. Container traffic totalled 5,016,896 tons, respectively 509,166 TEU. The most important increase in traffic was recorded by
cereals: 18.4%, up to 15,489,955 tonnes at the end of September 2019, compared to 13,083,252 tonnes in September 2018. Traffic increases were also seen in other groups of goods: mineral fuels. solids, petroleum products, iron ore, fertilizers and crude oil. In the total traffic registered in Romanian seaports, the most important sectors were cereals (31.2%), followed by crude oil (11.6%), various (10.1%), petroleum products (9.8% ), iron ore and iron waste (7.9%), solid mineral fuels (6.2%), non-ferrous minerals and waste (6.1%) and fertilizers (5.9%). From the beginning of the year, in Constanta port the traffic of goods was 43,367,993 tonnes, Midia port ​​5,480,667 tonnes and in Mangalia port of 188,416 tonnes. Copyright (C) PortSEurope.
