Salerno Port Cargo Traffic Rises 16.8% Y/y In Jan-Oct 2017

Salerno, Italy (PortSEurope) December 6, 2017 – Salerno port cargo traffic rose by 16.8% on the year to 12.6 million tonnes in the first ten months of 2017, with loading rising 21.1% to 6.4 million tonnes and unloading increasing 12.6% to 6.1 million tonnes.

The general cargo traffic had the largest contribution, with 12.5 million tonnes, up 16.8%. Ro-ro traffic rose 23.7% to 7 million tonnes and containerised cargo went up 11.7% to 4.6 million tonnes. Container traffic grew 15.2% to 373,000 TEUs.

Solid bulk cargo traffic went up 13.1% to 107,000 tonnes.

The cruise traffic at Salerno port declined 41.1% to 65,000 passengers. The total number of passengers, in turn, grew 24.3% to 666,000.
