Civitavecchia, Italy (PortSEurope) July 12, 2019 – As part of a policy to eliminate landfill waste from Civitavecchia port, the Lazio Region has approved a third plant to handle non-separable waste.
The service is being provided by SEPort. Srl, a company which manages the management of waste produced at the port. President of SEPort, Dr. Giancarlo Russo said that the work was part of the port’s investment plan that aims to maximise material recovery and environmental protection operations.
Autorita’ di Sistema Portuale del Mar Tirreno Centro-Settentrionale (AdSP – Centre-North Tyrrhenian Sea Port Authority) President Francesco Maria di Majo said that eliminating landfill waste would meet the requirements of EU directives on waste produced by ships at port.
Currently, the port uses facilities to purify bilge water and sterilise food waste.
