Bari, Italy (PortSEurope) November 28, 2018 – The port authorities of the Eastern and Western Sicilian Sea Autorita’ di Sistema Portuale del Mare di Sicilia Orientale (AdSP – Eastern Sicilian Sea Port Authority), Autorita’ di Sistema Portuale del Mare di Sicilia Occidentale (AdSP – Western Sicilian Sea Port Authority) and the port authority of Messina plan to boycott the conference on the development and recovery of the ports of Southern Italy, organised in Bari by association Assoporti.
The three Sicilian port institutions, whose heads have already resigned from the association, highlighting that Assoporti has not “succeeded in defining an overall planning for the ports of Southern Italy.”
According to the authorities, “the conference in Bari, which should focus attention on the entire port system of the South, will confirm the total inability of Assoporti to play an institutional role in the development of Italian ports.
The association is not making any efforts to understand the needs and priorities of Sicilian ports, which confirms the doubts about the reason for the existence of the association.
