Smart Ports 2021: sustainability, multimodality, agility, resilience and transparency – Barcelona

The Port of Barcelona will continue to work with the Gran Teatre del Liceu and the Hermitage to present a proposal to the City Council to develop a cultural and innovative hub in the central building of the Nova Bocana – June 7, 2021. The Port of Barcelona had been waiting for a year for Barcelona City Council to make a decision. In the absence
of a response, and considering that it is a project of general interest and in accordance with the Ports Act, the Board of Directors decided on 26 May to grant the concession to the Hermitage subject to the presentation of a Liceu-Hermitage agreement within two months and the signing of a Port-Barcelona City Council agreement within a period of two years. Today, the Barcelona City Council has pronounced itself in an extraordinary Government Commission denying the possibility of the agreement. Despite this, the Port of Barcelona will continue to work with the Gran Teatre del Liceu and the Hermitage to present a project for an innovative cultural and civic hub in accordance with the agreement adopted by the Board of Directors. The Port of Barcelona awaits official notification next week of the agreement reached today at the extraordinary Governing Committee of Barcelona City Council.
