Bilbao, Spain (PortSEurope) February 13, 2019 – Spain’s Haizea Wind Group (HWG), specialised in the construction of wind towers and offshore marine foundations and operating a factory in Bilbao port, has acquired Wind Energy Casting (WEC).
The entry of HWG in the cast components business is in line with the objectives of its strategic plan, which looks to continuous growth through purchases or alliances to increase its activity in different components and, consequently, reach a turnover of €400 million ($452.58 million) in four years.
At present, HWG operates a factory in Bilbao port and another in Argentina, called Haizea-Sica, together with a local partner. The group is also finalising the construction of a production facility in Saudi Arabia, which will be exclusively dedicated to the production of wind towers.
The launch of the HWG plant in Bilbao port involved an investment of €65 million ($73.6 million), becoming one of the main industrial projects that in the Basque Country in recent years and already has around 300 jobs.
