Spain’s SLP cargo handling at Bilbao port increases in H1 2018

Bilbao, Spain (PortSEurope) July 5, 2018 – Servicios Logísticos Portuarios, SA (SLP), a stevedoring company, consignee and regular line agent based in the port of Bilbao, has closed an excellent first semester of 2018. The company handled 1,205,000 tonnes from January to June, a figure that represents an increase of 17.4% on the year and consigned 195 ships, up 19%. Of the total volume of cargo
handled, 540,000 tonnes correspond to bulk and 230,000 tonnes to general cargo. SLP holds a 20% stake in the capital of Noatum Container Terminal Bilbao, which makes it the only stevedoring company present in the shareholding of a COSCO Shipping Ports Ltd terminal in Spain. On the other hand, SLP is an agent in Bilbao of Boluda Lines, which moves approximately 5% of all the containers that are loaded and unloaded in the port of Bilbao.
