Spain’s Sovalgaray appears before prosecutor to respond to port authority accusations

Formentera, Spain (PortSEurope) May 25, 2018 – Spanish company Sovalgaray Marítima, concessionaire of the parking building of the port of Formentera, has appeared before the Public Prosecutor’s Office after the Balearic Islands port authority (Autoridad Portuaria de Baleares) has accused the firm of “intimidation and threats”.

Sovalgaray Marítima has appeared before the prosecution to provide any documentation may be of interest. In addition, Sovalgaray Marítima warns that it is not ruled out that, finally, the port authority “may prosecute executives of the denouncing administration.”

The company understands that, in the face of the “accumulation of nonsense and arbitrariness” that port authority is committing in a “reiterated” manner, it must defend its interests that, they indicate, coincide with those of the citizens visiting the island.

In the official notice, the concessionaire indicates that it is “absolutely false” that it has “tried to intimidate, to threaten or to press” the technicians or personnel of the port authority.

For the company it is “unusual” and “improper” of a public institution to go to the Prosecutor’s Office with “some newspaper clippings” and issues a press release announcing it “with the evident intention of undermining the concessionaire’s reputation”.
