Santander, Spain (PortSEurope) November 20, 2018 – Spanish energy infrastructure company Viesgo has started the construction of a new power transmission substation at the port of Santander, which will be launched in the second half of 2019.
A total of €7.8 million ($8.9 million) will be invested in the project, which will make it possible to respond to the expected increase in energy demand in the port and increase its competitiveness against other Spanish harbours.
The substation will be operated under a concession that is granted for a period of 45 years, for the construction of a substation that will have an area of 1,800 m².
