Spanish cruise ship business show signs of recovery

Madrid, Spain (PortSEurope) January 21, 2022 – The statistics of cruise passenger traffic in Spanish state-owned ports reported total movement of nearly 1.9 million of passengers up to the month of November in 2021, up 43.2% on the same period of 2020. The recovery of cruise traffic is expected to continue in 2022, but still some way short of 2019. In that year, pre-Covid, Spanish
ports recorded a high of over 10.6 million cruise passengers, which made Spain the second country in the EU for receiving cruise passengers after Italy. Ports such as Barcelona and those of the Balearic Islands, with 3.1 and 2.6 million passengers, respectively, are benchmarks worldwide. Spain’s state-owned ports are administered by Puertos del Estado, a state-owned organisation responsible for the management of state-owned ports. Copyright (C) PortSEurope.
