This week, the Multiusos South Terminal of the Port of Leixões received the disembarkation operation on a Ro-Ro ship and preparation for road transport in specialized transport, of the first MATISA R21 railway equipment to arrive in Portugal – April 6, 2021 This machine, a ballast regulator, of high precision, used in the construction of railway tracks, is a creation of the Swiss company Matisa,
world leader in the design and conception of machines for construction and maintenance of railway tracks. The machine will be able to carry out work both in Portugal and in Spain, taking into account the similar characteristics that the railroads of the two countries have. Due to the exceptional dimensions of the equipment, it required a complex operation on the part of TCL (Terminal de Contentores de Leixões) and had to travel by road using a company specialized in this type of transport, with the final destination being Neopul Sacyr in Pegões. This equipment thus arrives in Portugal via Porto de Leixões, precisely in the year that marks the European Year of the Railroad! Source: Port of Leixoes
