Statements by Greek Minister of Foreign Affairs after the meeting with the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Italy in Rome

Statements by the Minister of Foreign Affairs Nikos Dendias after the meeting with the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Italy in Rome – January 13, 2021 “Today we had a very interesting and honest conversation with my Italian counterpart, Mr Di Maio. We covered all the issues. And our bilateral relations, ie the ratification by the Italian side of our agreement on maritime zones, but also
economic issues. But, on the other hand, the wider issues of the region, the Turkish provocation. I briefed him on the resumption of exploratory talks on 25 January, the wider Turkish conduct in the Eastern Mediterranean and even issues concerning Libya and Eastmed. It was not missing from our agenda and immigration. I think it is extremely useful to have a constant and honest exchange of views with Italy.“I also made it clear that, although we respect their decision and their stance, the Greek side would like stronger Italian support on the issue of sanctions.” Source: Government of Greece
