Ceuta, Spain (PortSEurope) December 21, 2017 – The maritime line of the Strait of Gibraltar between the ports of Ceuta and Algeciras exceeded 1,600,000 passengers between January and October, a figure lower than that of the same period in 2016, the Ceuta port authority (Autoridad Portuaria de Ceuta) said.
In the ten months through October, Ceuta port handled 1,641,653 passengers and 331,547 vehicles, compared to 1,676,671 passengers (down 2.08%) and 309,893 vehicles (up 6.99%) on the year.
In October, 186,348 passengers and 41,956 vehicles travelled through the Ceuta port to Algeciras, compared to 139,706 passengers and 22,610 cars a year earlier.
The port authority has indicated that there was also a slight decrease in general cargo traffic to 741,272 tonnes in January-October, down 13.81% on the year.
