Suez, Egypt (PortSEurope) November 21, 2018 – Egypt’s Suez Canal Economic Zone is looking forward to cooperating with the Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank (AIIB) in developing the infrastructure of the channel, the president of the Suez Canal, Mohab Mamish, said.

“The Suez Canal is the lifeblood of all the countries of the world, and the trade has now shifted from east to west. Investors are striving to reserve places in the channel,” Mamish said during a meeting with AIIB representative Shigen Shin.

AIIB believes it is the right time to invest in Egypt, Shin said during the meeting.

Egypt has made great advances in the development of the economic zone of the Suez Canal by attracting many local and foreign investments in contracts worth billions of dollars, reflecting the confidence of the local and foreign investors in the Egyptian economy, Sahar Nasr, Minister of Investment and International Cooperation, said.
