Tangier city port issues tender for development plan

Tangier, Morocco (PortSEurope) October 9, 2019 – Société d’Aménagement pour la Reconversion de la Zone Portuaire de Tanger (SAPT) is to issue a tender for a study on a development plan for Tangier port which should cover an economic plan for the next five years.

The ongoing redevelopment project of the Tangier City has as main objective to position the city as a flagship destination for cruise and pleasure tourism on an international scale.

Currently, several parts of this project have been completed, namely the new fishing port inaugurated on June 7, 2018, and already operational, the new marina “Tanja Marina Bay International” which was inaugurated and put into service or the new mosque of the port, inaugurated on July 30, 2018, and opened thereafter to the faithful.

Other projects carried out by the development company for the redevelopment of the Tangier port area or its subsidiary have also been completed and put into operation, such as the restoration and enhancement of the Medina wall, the nautical club, the extension of the cruise docks, the extension and modernization of the ferry terminal, the port control tower, the musical fountain, as well as the artisanal shopping center adjoining the port mosque.

It should also be noted that the works of the real estate component, entrusted to an international private investor, are in progress and their completion is planned for the end of 2023.
