Tarragona, Spain (PortSEurope) October 11, 2019 – The president of Autoridad Portuaria de Tarragona (APT – Port Authority of Tarragona), Josep Maria Cruset, speaks on Thursday, October 10,, in the ‘Esmorzar Cambra’ session organized by the Chamber of Commerce of Reus, an event, to be presented by the president of the Chamber of Commerce of Reus, Jordi Just and by the mayor of Reus, Carles Pellicer.

Cruset has been invited to present the paper under the title ‘Port de Tarragona: future investments for the progress of the territory’. The Port of Tarragona is one of the most important infrastructures of the State and of the whole of the Mediterranean, its master plan (2015-20135) includes the infrastructures with which the Port will be equipped in the immediate future.

In his presentation he wanted to highlight the investments of the future for the progress of the territory and claims the “need that we have a real perception of our potential as a territory”.

The president of the Port takes advantage of his intervention to explain the execution of several projects that have to contribute to the positioning of the port as a reference in the fields of Intermodal logistics, containers, chemistry and also in the competitive world of tourist cruises.

Some of the immediate objectives of the Port of Tarragona, Cruset explained, are the Logistics Activities Zone (ZAL), a space of one million m² intended to expand the storage and transport of goods located in the municipality of Vilaseca, the Intermodal terminal ‘Puerto Centro’ to the municipality of Guadalajara and Marchamalo, the new cruise terminal of the Moll de Baleares, the commitment to the improvement of communications by train and road, the diversification of traffic, or the natural space Red 2000 and investments destined to generate more economic activity to the territory.

Finally, Cruset, concludes his intervention announcing the realization of a study on the logistics of the traffic of cereals in his hinterland with the aim of creating a dry port to boost the transport by rail of the majority of the 30,000 daily tons that leave the Port.

Cruset, is committed to a port with a sustainable economy to improve the quality of life and that of our planet.
