The port of Tarragona is working to consolidate itself as a regular destination for cruise tourism in a promotional strategy that has gained weight as the pandemic has affected the normal functioning of the sector. This is one of the
current strategic promotion lines to increase the attractiveness of Tarragona as the main tourist destination, in a campaign aimed at the cruise sector with an eye toward 2021. This communicative action is based on the dissemination of an audiovisual, of little more than 25 seconds, under the title, ‘Nothing moves without you’, ( https://youtu.be/u6gAcmP21ko ) promoted by Tarragona Cruise Port Costa Dorada ( https : //www.tarragonacruiseport.com/ ), reinforces and bets on the great attractiveness of the territory and calls on the tourism sector to get to know Tarragona. The campaign, under the Tarragona Cruise Port Costa Dorada brand, is deployed to face future seasons with the aim of resuming activity when the effects of the pandemic and regulations allow it. For now, the focus of cruise activities in Tarragona is to maintain constant vigilance to take advantage of present and future opportunities, and to work to guarantee security measures. More promotional activity The ‘Nothing moves without you’ campaign is the latest in a long list of promotional actions deployed during this year 2020. The stop of cruise activity during this time that COVID has forced to redirect promotional actions that, in addition to supporting to commercial action, they have consisted of asserting the territory and preparing the return of the sector with the best possible position. The Port of Tarragona cruise team has held meetings, conferences and virtual encounters at fairs because they are present at all times in the nerve centers of the cruise community. The Port of Tarragona has participated in dozens of networking to present Tarragona as a cruise city, betting on arguments that will show the differentiation and exclusivity of the Tarragona destination. The campaign stands out above all the rich natural and historical heritage of Tarragona, since it is an excellent destination to be included in the itineraries of cruises through the Mediterranean A destination with different recognitions by UNESCO, among them, Tarragona and the Poblet Monastery as a World Heritage Site, the castles as Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity and the Ebro Delta as a Biosphere Reserve. Balearic Pier The construction of the new Muelle de Baleares has also been one of the main arguments of the Port’s commercial and promotional activities. All the agents of the cruise sector have shown a lot of interest in this new space of 4,000 m² that will allow up to four cruise ships to dock at the Port and which will be operational around the month of May 2021. An investment of €27 million where it will be possible to work with unbeatable conditions and will provide the Port with a path of growth.
