Tenerife, Spain (PortSEurope) May 23, 2018 – Tenerife port’s container traffic rose by 61.8% on the year in April and by 68.5% in the first four months of 2018.
The important upward trend registered since January 2018 is maintained, when the container traffic rose by 62% after growing by 66% in February.
In April, Tenerife port handled 29,010 containers, 11,800 more than in April, to 117,000 in the first four months.
In a month in which most type of traffic grew significantly, total traffic rose by 1.38% to 4,483,582 tonnes. Of these, 2,483,864 tonnes corresponded to general cargo, which meant an increase of 14%.
As far as passenger traffic is concerned, from January to April 2,050,798 passengers passed through ports, 10.5% more than last year.
In the aforementioned period, 6,435 vessels passed through Tenerife port, 234 more.
