
Terminales Marítimas del Sureste and Transfesa Logistics inaugurate rail service from port of Alicante to the UK

Alicante, Spain (PortSEurope) November 9, 2021 – Terminales Marítimas del Sureste, S.A. (TMS) and Transfesa Logistics have inaugurated a new rail service between the port of Alicante and the UK for transport companies targeting both markets. The Alicante Port Authority has welcomed the new rail service, launched at a key moment in the supply chain and that responds to the current supply problems in the
UK, due to a lack of drivers. The service will start weekly, carrying 90% reefer good and 10% dry cargo. the companies aim to increase frequencies and new services to Germany and the Benelux countries. The service will form part of the Mediterranean transport corridor and contribute to a reduction in carbon dioxide emissions. In October 2020, Transfesa Logistics started working with Tesco, one of the largest UK supermarket chains, to deliver fresh goods from the Almussafes rail terminal in Valencia to the Barking rail terminal, UK).
