The future of Livorno port Old Fortress under discussion

Livorn, Italy (PortSEurope) February 16, 2020 A meeting between the Tuscany Region, the Municipality of Livorno, Autorita’ di Sistema Portuale del Mar Tirreno Settentrionale (AdSP – North Tyrrhenian Sea Port Authority), MTS and the owners has been held, in order to find a solution to prevent the closure of the Old Fortress. A draft of the memorandum of understanding was made with which the procedural
guidelines are defined, regarding the transfer of ownership of the monument from the State Property Agency to the Tuscany Region and the Municipality of Livorno. However, AdSP, will maintain an active participation within the facility through its Livorno Port Center. The enhancement of the old Fortress, such as management, use, maintenance and promotion of the monumental complex symbol of Livorno, remain the primary objective. Requested by the AdSP, pending the definition of ITER, was the signing of the protocol, the extension of the concession until 31.12.2020. All the institutions involved have shown a firm desire to collaborate so that the Old Fortress continues to be the symbol of the city and its port. Copyright (C) PortSEurope.
