
Total freight traffic in the ports of the Almería Port Authority exceeds 5 million tons, 31.1% more than in 2020

Between last January and October, the state ports of Carboneras and the capital managed by the Almería Port Authority (APA) have registered a merchandise traffic of just over 5 million tons – November 19, 2021 This volume represents an increase of 31.1% over the same period last year. of Carboneras is close to 2 million (40.4% more) In the Port of Carboneras, in addition to the increases that have been registered in the movements of plaster and cement, as well as those of chemical products, the growth of the shipment of oils and fats stands out, with 51.3% more than in the previous year ( almost 37,000 tons). In the Port of the capital, the shipment of plaster – which has grown by 41.3% – accounts for half of the freight traffic, with 1.5 million tons. Cement follows, with 200,000 tons. With smaller volumes appear the materials for the construction, the crushed marble and limestone, the agro-food products and the paper. As a whole, 1,020 ships entered the APA ports as of October, 3.8% more than in the same period of the previous year. Of the slightly more than 5 million tons of merchandise that have been shipped and disembarked in these ten months, 3.7 million correspond to solid bulk (38% more); 1.1 million are general merchandise (almost 12% more); and 117,215 tons, of liquid bulk (28% more).
