Istanbul, Turkey (PortSEurope) May 31, 2019 – Turkey plans to build a container port in the nort-eastern province of Ordu, the country’s transport ministry said. Ordu is a port city on the Black Sea coast of Turkey.
“After the final draft of the container port in the province of Ordu is be ready, a tender for construction will be announced”, the ministry said. The ministry noted that the new port in Ordu will increase the number of shipments in Turkey.
No financial details on the project were disclosed.
In the first quarter of 2019, Turkish ports received more than 11,000 vessels, with a gross registered tonnage of 190.35 million tonnes.
