Tripoli, Libya (PortSEurope) July 9, 2021 – Turkey’s Albayrak Holding and Yildirim have both been in Libya exploring future investment opportunities. A management delegation from Turkey’s Albayrak Holding has visited the Free Zone in Misrata to discuss investment proposals to establish a logistics centre. The delegation was briefed on the financial opportunities of opening an office and associated logistics facilities. The Albayrak Group is a
holding company comprising nearly 50 businesses covering the construction, industry, service, logistics and media sectors. Separately, local media has reported that the Yildirim Group has signed a preliminary cooperation memorandum of understanding (MOU) with the Misrata Free Zone. Misurata Free Zone Port is located on the west coast of Libya. The modern existing seaport was established in 1978 with the aim of providing maritime services. The free zone was set up to attract foreign investment into Libya. According to the Misrata Free Zone’s page, the delegation included the chairman and general manager of the company, besides directors of the company’s regional branches.
