Odessa, Ukraine (PortSEurope) September 18, 2019 – The Minister for Infrastructure, Vladislav Krikli, has met with Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Turkey to Ukraine, Jagmur Ahmet Gulder to discuss bilateral cooperation in transport, as well as opportunities for investment in infrastructure projects in Ukraine.
Krikli said that Ukraine has invited Turkey to implement joint infrastructure projects and contribute Turkish experience and experts in the development of Ukrainian infrastructure, particularly transport.
The Turkish side has suggested a joint working group on the development of combined transport between the two littoral Black Sea countries.
Other topics were the development of cruise shipping in Ukraine, the aviation industry, prospects for concession of Ukrainian ports and airports, and the development of public-private partnerships in concession projects.
Turkey’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs reports that trade volume between Turkey and Ukraine in 2018 amounted to $4.1 billion ($1.46 billion in exports from Turkey, and $2.64 billion in imports from Ukraine).
Investments by approximately 600 Turkish firms operating in Ukraine stands at $2.1 billion (including investments through third countries). The total value of projects undertaken by Turkish construction firms is worth $5.5 billion.
