Durrës, Albania (PortSEurope) September 16, 2018 – A United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) mission has visited the port of Durrës following the implementation of a project for the prevention of marine pollution, which is funded by the government of Croatia.
Port officials presented the project in the presence of the President of Croatia, Kolinda Grabar Kitarovic and the mission was welcomed by Blerina Hasani, Director of the Environment, Technical Security, Health and Emergency Protection, and a group of port specialists.
Violeta Zuna, UNDP representative in Albania and Vedran Martinić, leader of the Croatian consultative association, were particularly interested in the problems observed in the port. The mission, along with the port of Durrës, will also monitor the other ports of country as well as some of the hotspots that pose and carry risks leading to marine pollution.
The project aims at addressing issues related to pollution prevention marine, risk assessment, contingency plan and approach systems and emergencies.
