Almería, Spain (PortSEurope) February 8, 2019 – Almería port and the University of Almería renewed the contract signed a few years ago by which the university is responsible for executing environmental monitoring of the ports of Almería and Carboneras.  The contract was also signed by the company Medgaz which operates the submarine pipeline Algeria-Europe, through Almería-, and the consignee Ronco y Cía. and López Guillén. The contract contemplates
the monitoring of air quality, as well as the quality of the water and its sediments in the two ports. Also, according to the contract, environmental monitoring will be carried out in the areas close to the Medgaz pipeline. Mari Carmen Ortiz valued the contract with the University, “as an essential tool that allows continuous monitoring of the conditions established by the Environmental Administration for activities carried out in ports, such as bulk handling,” she said.
