Valencia, Spain (PortSEurope) January 27, 2017 – Valencia port authority (Autoridad Portuaria de Valencia) has carried out a simulation of fire extinguishing on a tugboat that included rescue manoeuvres and healthcare to an injured person. The simulation led to the activation of the Self-Protection Plan of Valencia port, was attended by the fire department of Valencia, port ambulance, port police, the port authority emergency control
centre and the tugboat crew. The test is part of the collaboration agreement between the port authority and the Valencia City Council regarding fire accidents in the port area. The simulation began with the overload of a cable in the engine room of the “V.B. Sonador” tugboat of Boluda Group that caused a fire, generating a cloud of toxic smoke.
