Valencia, Spain (PortSEurope) January 4, 2018 – Valencia port has started the year with new maximum fees for the pilotage service. The new tariffs represent an average decrease of 10%. However, since these are non-linear quotas, depending on the type of vessel, the reductions could reach up to 40%.
The most important reduction is applied to large vessels, between 100,000 gross registered tonnes (GTs) and 175,000 GTs, and are intended to provide greater competitiveness to the port. The reduction in the maximum rates of this service will be applied in two phases: the first one, already implemented since the end of November 2017; and the second, which will come into force at the end of November 2018.
The pilotage service is applied by service of entrance, exit or change of dock, including all docking or undocking. It is mandatory for all ships with a gross tonnage of 500 GTs or more, o that all commercial vessels operating in the port of Valencia are required to use this service.
