Supreme Court dismisses accusations against former Valencia port president

Valencia, Spain (PortSEurope) January 27, 2017 – Spanish Supreme Court has upheld the sentence of Valencia Provincial Court, which not to prosecute for embezzlement of public funds the former president of the Valencia port authority (Autoridad Portuaria de Valencia), Rafael Aznar Garrigues, and three other executives, who were investigated in relation to the alleged collection of bonuses. The court unanimously dismissed the appeal of the
prosecutor against the decision of the Valencia court. Aznar, appointed as president of the port authority on September 9, 2004, was accused of planning a management structure that was aimed at the deviation of public funding and the illicit receiving of bonuses.
