Venice Port Cargo Traffic Declines 2.2% In Jan-Nov 2017

Venice, Italy (PortSEurope) January 2, 2018 – Venice port handled 22.7 million tonnes of cargo in the first eleven months of 2017, down 2.2% on the year.

General cargo traffic increased 3.2% to 8.7 million tonnes and 5.2 million tonnes of them were container traffic, which edged down 0.1%. In terms of units, the container traffic remained flat at 560,801 TEUs.

Ro-ro traffic rose 45.1% to 1.4 million tonnes and liquid bulk cargo fell 4.3% to 8.0 million tonnes, including 6.6 million tonnes of refined petroleum products, down 5.7%, 1.1 million tonnes of chemicals, down 5.2%, and 50,000 tonnes of crude oil. Solid bulk cargo traffic declined 6.7% to 6.0 million tonnes.

Venice port handled 1.4 million cruise passengers in the first eleven months of the year, down 12.2%.
