Venice, Italy (PortSEurope) June 13, 2018 – Venice port has completed the project for the expansion of Malamocco-Marghera canal, which will increase the harbour’s capacity to handle ships, the president of the port authority, Pino Musolino, said.
A total of 80,000 cubic metres of sediments were excavated from the canal and from now on Venice port will be able to handle container ships with a capacity of more than 8,500 TEUs, Musolino noted.
“I thank Mayor Brugnaro for the possibility that he offers us to clarify, once again, that the dredging aimed at handling 8,500 TEU ships are over,” Musolino said.
