Yilport Leixões reinforces market share

News – Yilport Leixões reinforces market share – September 23, 2020 Between January and July, the handling of containers in Portugal’s mainland ports fell by 6.4%. In Leixões, it only dropped by 0.2%. In the first seven months of the year, mainland ports handled 1,547,880 TEU. Leixões alone counted 409,502, thereby increasing its market share to 26.5%. The result of Yilport Leixões is all the more significant then, on the one hand, since March the country has been living under the effects of the Covid-19 pandemic and, on the other hand, the comparison is made with 2019, which was the best year ever to the Leixões Container Terminal. In global terms, in the first seven months of the year, the port of Leixões maintains its market share of 22%, with 10.2 million tonnes processed. Yilport Leixões is the largest seaport in the north of Portugal, located in Porto.
