Spain (España) is located in Southwest Europe, occupying the Iberian peninsula between the Mediterranean and the Atlantic; a member of the European Union; by tonnage the leading ports are Algeciras, Barcelona and València. State ports are managed by Puertos del Estado which executes port policy of the government; made up of 28 port authorities that manage the 46 ports.
