Alexandroupoli or Alexandroupolis is a city in Greece and the capital of the Evros regional unit, Western Thrace. The port is operated by state-owned Alexandroupolis Port Authority, which is in the process of being privatised. In recent years, the port has increased its profile as a regional energy hub and a base for U.S. armed forces.
