Piraeus, Greece (PortSEurope) February 13, 2018 – Greek railway company Trainose and COSCO Shipping are said to be planning a joint logistics hub in Thriasio, the industrial zone west of Athens.
TrainOSE S.A. currently operates all passenger and freight trains on OSE lines in Greece. TrainOSE was acquired in September 2017 by the Italian national railway company Ferrovie dello Stato Italiane.
China’s COSCO Shipping Ports Limited operates Piraeus Ports Authority S.A. and Piraeus Container Terminal S.A., and has been investing considerable sums in both businesses. The company is playing a key role in the New Silk Road, China’s economic policy to acquire infrastructure assets between China and Europe, to open access to European markets for its manufactured products.
