Cartagena

The ports of Cartagena and Escombreras are located right on the Mediterranean’s major maritime routes and are connected to Spain’s national road and rail network. The dock at Cartagena handles commercial traffic and has 5 different terminals for containers, general cargo, fruit and vegetables, livestock and cruise liners. The dock at Escombreras has different terminals for liquid and dry bulk, and has become one of the country’s leaders in industrial cargo traffic. The port is operated by Autoridad Portuaria de Cartagena (APC – Port Authority of Cartagena). State ports are managed by Puertos del Estado which executes port policy of the government; made up of 28 port authorities that manage the 46 ports.
