Motril

The Port of Motril-Granada lies at a strategic transport intersection in the south east area of the Iberian Peninsula, with direct connections to the Mediterranean Corridor (E-15) and Central Corridor (E902 E-5). It the closest port to Madrid in Andalusia and has two passenger and cargo terminals which cater for regular ROPAX services to and from North Africa, making it a logistics hub connecting Europe to the ports of Tanger Med, Nador, Al Hoceima and Melilla. The Port of Motril is also a popular port of call for cruise liners due to the nearby Alhambra, as well as the wide array of options offered by the Costa Tropical and the region as a whole. The port is operated by Autoridad Portuaria de Motril (APM – Port Authority of Motril). State ports are managed by Puertos del Estado which executes port policy of the government; made up of 28 port authorities that manage the 46 ports.
