Santander

The Basque Port of Santander is a natural harbour without man-made protection and has direct access to Cantabria’s motorways, the plateau region and the national rail network. It has state-of-the-art terminals for dry and agri-food bulk, these being the types of cargo the Port of Santander has traditionally handled. The port has weekly services to England and Ireland, as well as regular services to Germany, Belgium, Finland, France, the Netherlands, Russia, Portugal, other English ports, the Americas, Africa, Australia, New Zealand, China and Korea. The port is operated by Autoridad Portuaria de Santander (APS – Port Authority of Santander). State ports are managed by Puertos del Estado which executes port policy of the government; made up of 28 port authorities that manage the 46 ports.
