Odessa, Ukraine (PortSEurope) June 21, 2019 – China Harbor Engineering Company Ltd. (CHEC) has completed its dredging project at the port of Chornomorsk. Over an 11-month period, over 1.5 million of material was removed from the port’s channels.
Following the dredging and some work to rebuild deepwater berths, the port will be able to receive larger vessels, Panamax and post-Panamax ships with a draft of 14.5 metres and a deadweight of 75,000 tons.
This will increase the competitiveness of the port in the Black Sea region and will allow public and private stevedoring companies working in the port to attract new traffic and develop their business, said Ukrainian Sea Ports Authority (USPA) head Raivis Veckagans.
