
Duisport acquires 15% of Interporto di Trieste

Trieste, Italy (PortSEurope) December 15, 2020 – Duisburger Hafen AG (Duisport), an intermodal terminal operator, has purchased a 15% share stake in Interporto di Trieste, a logistics hub of the Friuli Venezia Giulia Region. The purchase was approved by Autorita’ di Sistema Portuale del Mare Adriatico Orientale (AdSP – Eastern Adriatic Sea Port Authority). The shares were acquired from the Friuli Venezia Giulia Region. The remaining shareholdings remain
unchanged: the AdSP 20%, la Camera di Commercio Industria Artigianato e Agricoltura Venezia Giulia 16.44%, Comune di Trieste 11.05% and il Comune di Monrupino 5.52%. Duisport, a multi-modal hub (water, rail and land) in the heart of Europe manages cargo volumes of 4 million TEU per year, with more than 20,000 ships and 25,000 trains arriving and departing annually. The president of Interporto di Trieste, Giacomo Borruso, in office since 2014 has resigned and will be succeeded by the new Chairman and Chief Executive Officer Paolo Privileggio. The Duisport investment follows on from the September purchase by Hamburger Hafen und Logistik AG (HHLA) of 50.01% of Trieste port’s multi-function terminal Piattaforma Logistica Trieste srl (PLT).
