Kavala, Greece (PortSEurope) September 7, 2017 – Greek prime minister Alexis Tsipras has said the project for the launch of a railway corridor linking the ports in northern Greece to harbours in Bulgaria will allow his country to take advantage of its location and improve its strategic planning.
Bulgaria and Greece will use the corridor exploit their potential and for the benefit of their citizens, Tsipras said after the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding for the construction of a railway connection between the Greek ports of Thessaloniki, Kavala and Alexandroupolis and the Bulgarian ports of Burgas and Varna on the Black Sea, and Ruse on the Danube River.
Greece will work for the success of the Bulgarian presidency of the Council of the Еuropean Union (EU), starting January 2018, as it believes that in fact, this is a local, Balkan presidency, Tsipras noted.
